Stress sucks. When I’m stressed out, the last thing I need to hear is someone telling me to relax or chill out. The reality is that stress doesn’t just affect your mind but your whole body as well. When we’re under stress, our bodies’ are flooded with cortisol. Cortisol is a chemical which produces a fight or flight feeling in us. It’s what we would have used to escape predators wayyyyyyyy back in the day.

All this talk of cortisol is kinda stressin’ me out! Luckily, the best way to remove built up cortisol is by sweating it out. Daily stretching routines are a great way for not only reducing cortisol levels but also of creating an ideal mindset for not getting stressed out in the first place. Deep breathing, soft, ambient music, dim lights and loose clothing all make for heightened relaxation.
