10 Easy Steps Towards A More Flexible You

10 Easy Steps Towards A More Flexible You

Breathing Techniques

Stretching is all well and good on its own but to really reap the benefits, breathing must be taken into account. When used correctly, breathing while stretching helps increase flexibility and blood circulation which in turn removes lactic acid; alleviating soreness and discomfort. Taking a deep breath before a stretch puts pressure on your internal organs and blood vessels. When you breathe out, the release of pressure creates a sort of springboard effect; moving new blood throughout the whole body.

Experts suggest inhaling slowly and deeply through your nose; slowly exhaling as you lean into your stretch. You should try to imagine the air being pulled through the back of your throat. Many people make a slight humming sound to help control their air flow. While it may feel a little strange at first, once you’ve mastered your breathing you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner!
