A common symptom among those diagnosed with lymphoma, leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) is either acute or dull bone and lower back pain. The cause of bone pain is thought to be due to crowding in the bone marrow due to an abundance of cancerous cells.

Sometimes, these cells will form a mass either near the base of the spine or near joints such as elbows, hips and knees. These tumors put pressure on your nerve endings and create feelings of discomfort or pain.
