The valves in your heart are are somewhat ironically vulnerable to infection. they exist as part of the organ responsible for pumping fresh blood to our entire body, though the valves themselves don’t actually receive a dedicated supply of blood. This lack of fresh blood also means our immune systems have a harder time getting help to our heart valves; leading to complications should an infection arise.

If you are suffering from a persistant cough, fever, paleness or aching joints and muscles, you may have endocarditis, an inflammation of the lining of the heart valves. If you are experiencing night sweats in combination with a history of rheumatic fever, diabetes, congenital heart issues or artificial heart valves, you may want to see a doctor to rule this one out
