Waking Up Soaking Wet? 10 Common Causes of Night Sweats
2. Undercooked Meat
Brucellosis is a nasty bacterial infection that can bring on night sweats. Part of a family of diseases known as Zoonosis, this bacteria is contagious and can be passed easily from animals to humans. It can also be caught from consuming under cooked meat, unpasteurized dairy or by working closely with animals.
The average American ate almost 200 pounds of pork, beef and poultry in 2015 so it’s no surprise some of them would catch this type of disease. Veterinarians, slaughterhouse workers and bovine farm hands are also at risk of catching brucellosis. Treatment involves three to four months of rigorous rounds of antibiotics.
