Douching With Apple Cider Vinegar

yeast infection

Douching is a somewhat divisive issue. Some women love it, claiming it makes them feel clean. There is an abundance of evidence to suggest douching actually increases the chance of vaginal complications and should only be done when completely necessary. When overused, douching can strip the vagina of healthy bacteria, leading to pelvic inflammation and a greater chance of bacterial vaginosis. The best way to use douching to treat yeast infections is to use apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is both great for balancing pH levels within the body and for being antiseptic, meaning it’s great for fighting and preventing infections. The key component of apple cider vinegar is acetic acid which has been used stabilize blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol, fight acid reflux and yes, treat yeast infections. Be sure to dilute vinegar with water before douching. The same dilution can be used to relieve itching and inflammation around the vagina as well. Talk to a healthcare specialist before douching with vinegar to see if it’s right for you. Lastly, if douching with vinegar, do not use hydrogen peroxide at the same time.
