Apply Cold

Hemorrhoids are considered a type of varicose vein that causes bulging and bleeding around the anus and rectum. The use of cold on hemorrhoids can’t be stressed enough. Cold compresses have been used for centuries as an effective pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent which basically makes them perfect for temporary relief from hemorrhoid pain.

There are a few ways to go about icing hemorrhoids such as crushing up a bag of ice, using freezer packs, a frozen bag of peas or medical cold packs. Ideally, the sensitive area should be iced several times a day to help bring down swelling and reduce pain. While only a temporary solution, cold used in combination with other healing measures is a definite positive and shouldn’t be overlooked.
