4. Swelling of the Legs
In cases where ovarian cancer has moved beyond the ovaries and into the surrounding tissues, some patient’s will experience swelling throughout different parts of their bodies’. A symptom such as swelling of the legs usually means there is a build-up of lymph fluid in the lower extremities, usually due to a blockage brought on by growing cancer. The lymphatic system is what our bodies’ use to fight infection and disease but if left untreated, ovarian cancer can overtake the lymph system and turn it against its own host.
