Do You Have Lupus? Is Your Immune System Attacking You?
Heart Burn or Acid Reflux

Though lupus is known for attacking major organs such as the lungs, brain, skin, kidneys and heart, in some cases lupus can also create complications with the gastrointestinal tract(GI) or esophagus. Lupus which attacks these parts of the body, or nearby organs such as the liver or kidneys can cause a host of issues causing heartburn, difficulty swallowing or acid reflux, marked by burning sensations and discomfort.
Often times, the medication used to regulate lupus flares can cause stomach problems to arise. If you are experiencing these symptoms once or twice a week, try eating smaller meals and stay away from high acid foods; as well as staying upright after eating and cutting down on caffeine. See your doctor if you are suffering from symptoms of acid reflux, issues with swallowing or heartburn; these could be warning signs of a more serious issue.
