Fast-talking is a commonly found in people with Schizophrenia, ADHD or those suffering from mania. The hallmark indicator is a rapid-fire, pressured speech caused by a thought disorder known as, flight of ideas. Usually, this flood of thought is combined with feelings of high energy and euphoria. There is no universal treatment for pressured speech due to the different ways in which it is caused. Anxiety, stress, lack of sleep or a host of other reasons can all trigger a flight of ideas. Depending on the cause, which therapy can help pinpoint, doctors may prescribe medication or suggest removing triggers which lead to fast talking.
