10 Commonly Misunderstood Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder
Psychosis

Bipolar psychosis is the inability to differentiate between what is real and what is not. A dangerous and serious condition, psychosis is often accompanied by delusions and hallucinations. Bipolar psychosis is found most often during times of mania when a persons’ mood swings too far in either direction.
Many people mistakenly think of psychosis as a symptom of schizophrenia. While this is true, it is also common among many other mental and physical disorders. There is also a widespread belief that psychosis is sudden. The truth is that the loss of ability to tell what is real happens slowly. Paranoia, anxiety and a lack of ability to express or communicate with others are hallmarks of psychosis.
