10. Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a condition which affects 2.5 million people worldwide and in America alone, 200 new cases are reported every week. MS can appear as either isolated attacks or as a progressive disease; damaging the insulating covers of nerve cells located in the brain and spinal cord. As the nerve cells become damaged, disruption of communication between different parts of the body steadily increases.

Symptoms are varied but commonly MS patient’s will suffer from difficulties with vision, muscle weakness or lack of coordination. Treatment is usually in the form of medication, though alternative forms of disease management include yoga, vitamin D, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and medical cannabis.
