11. Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease
This neurological disease is a fatal form of dementia caused by the growth of abnormal proteins in the brain called prions CJD most commonly appears in the elderly, though in some cases gene mutation or surgery involving the transfer of human tissue have led to this condition. It can take years for symptoms to show after acquiring CJD but once they do, the disease quickly progresses.
