The 10 Most Common Cancers: Know The Signs and Symptoms

Kidney cancer

Kidney cancer is far more likely to develop later in life: uncommon before the age of 45, the average age of diagnoses for kidney cancer is 65 with men being twice as likely to get it than women. As one of the top 10 most common forms of cancer in North America; roughly one 1 in 63 people will be diagnosed with it at some point in their life. Reported cases of kidney cancer saw an uptick in the 1990’s. While the reason is still somewhat unclear, it’s believed that advancements in cancer screening allowed cancers which would have been missed to be caught and diagnosed.

By far the most common form of kidney cancer is Renal cell carcinoma. Forms in the filtration system of the kidneys, renal cell carcinoma makes up 85 percent of all diagnosed kidney cancers. Others include sarcoma, traditional cell carcinoma, lymphoma and Wilms tumor. Common symptoms of kidney cancer include loss of appetite, weight loss, persistent fever and fatigue. Additionally, bloody urine or any lump located around the abdomen could be signs of growing cancer or tumors. It should go without saying but any of these symptoms should warrant a trip to the doctor regardless of the final diagnoses.
